Yup done that and there is slight movement but not alot , looks more like the rubber flexing.

Gutted I was hoping that was my problem :-( bloody knocking is driving me bonkers but I can't reproduce it so as to find where its coming from.

I can violently bounce the car up and down & side to side but nothing , drive it over speed humps and nothing but slowly over rough ground and loud knock knock knock

I had the same symptoms. I Changed the top mounts and still had the horrible and distracting clunk clunk clunk. It was the NS Delta link bush. A good mate of mine changed it for me and it took less than an hour from start to finish.

My money would be on those too, as per comment in your other thread.

When mine went it was pretty easy to see if you get up close with a torch - compare each side. They are low down in front of the rear wheel on each side - get on your knees with your head down there and you'll spot them no problem, you'll see the end of the bush assembly in the picture above.

Does the knocking appear to come from one side only, or both?

If it is these bushes, I can point you at my write up on how to do it, with pictures and everything, if you want.

Cheers!
