most people will be split on this and imho i think the ultimate volvo would be a rear drive 850 with a 240 interior and 7/900 build quality lol but that will never happen

i love my 850 that engine note and the handling great, but had a 940 turbo estate on loan from shipham motors and was the best fun i've had in ages it handled nothing like my 740 estate and the turbo was addictive blasting unsuspecting motorists.

defo love 740 2.3ltr auto estate great combo, old skool estate with reliablity.

.. what is the best year for the 850's turbo estate ? .. does it have a non-interference cam drive ?

how much difference in price do you see between sedan and estate versions ?

cheers

I'd doubt if there's many reasonably modern engines that are non-interference. Any that are, are going to be somewhat rare.

B230 Series Engines:

Do I Have an Interference Engine? [Editor]

An "interference" engine is one in which the tops of the pistons and the valves may collide if the timing belt breaks or is misaligned.
If you have an interference engine, you MUST change your timing belt on schedule or else you risk very expensive damage. You must also pay closer attention to the condition of the tensioners, pulley bolts, and front seals: anything that can cause the belt to fail prematurely must be repaired quickly.

Not all Volvo engines are non-interference. [Colin Shepherd/Peter Milnes]

"Interference" Engines:

* B200 series (including E, F, G, FT, GT)
* B230E (high-compression B230 sold outside of North America)
* B204 series (including E, F, FT, GT)
* B234 series (including F, G)
* All B5XXX five-cylinder inline engines and 6XXX six-cylinder engines

The B230 series is non-interference with the exception of the B230E.

Hi as far as i know its interference, as for the best model year there really is not much difference, they had a mild facelift in 1996 and there are a few differences here and there iam sure someone will list them, but on these cars the value really depends on condition, some t5s have been heavily modded and some modded badly, these cars can be hard to sell, people seem to prefer clean original examples with loads of service history, eg I would price a 1996 car that has no history and high miles lower than say a 1994 with full history and low miles, definatly buy on the condition whatever the age.

As for estate/saloons the estates will always sell for more money practicality wise especially 7 seaters, T5 saloons will sell cause of what they are, The R models fetch condiserably more money as they are collectors cars but again the price really depends on condition, hope this helps Ste

Very nice, that is definatly a bit of me lol, a lot of people turn their noses up at white cars but I think they look great, they also hide little imperfections in the paint/bodywork as opposed to say a dark blue or black car, I dont know about in your country but most manufactures havent made many white cars over the last say 10-15 years but they are now making a comeback...Excellent!
