Due to the incredible ""wisdom"" of the person(s) who upgraded the forum
software, it is not possible to know of the location of the member anymore. Can you please inform me/us of the itemlocation?? |

The car is in Leigh, Lancs about 12 miles West of Manchester.
I rarely use Skype though now. Colin

That's one of the things I'm keeping I'm afraid.
The parts list names others too. Colin

Some of the major body parts are now 'bolts loose or removed' and could easily be removed quite quickly.
This includes: Front bumper Rear bumper Both front wings Towbar - soon Fuel tank - soon Things like the doors, boot lid and bonnet wouldn't be difficult to remove anyway. The remains of the car are likely to be taken away within about 1 week so if there is anything you need put your name on it now by PM'ing me. Otherwise they will be taken away with what remains. I won't be removing things like steering rack, engine, gearbox or diff - they will be taken away with the car. Colin

Hi Lucas,
Yes it is, but I'm afraid it is going to be taken away with the car as things stand - sorry. The forum member who is going to collect the car would like the remaining body panels to be present and I have agreed to that and a price with remaining panels included. That forum member is expected to be collecting the car in about a week or so - if that doesn't happen I'll get in touch. I don't know whether he actually needs the bonnet or not as I think he does sell spares. If he doesn't need it and you do, he might be happy to sell it to you at the time the car is taken away as it is likely to be going about 100 miles away and it would be a pity for it to be out of your reach then when it is so close now. But that would be an agreement between you and he, assuming he does collect. I'll PM him and tell him of your interest. You would need to deal with him directly on this though and I would appreciate it if those dealings were done by PM's or direct email so as not to compromise my disposal of the car. If you can't PM at present there is the option to request PM permission for low post count members here - http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=99800 . He might well be attracted to the deal as it would likely pay his petrol for the round trip to collect. Colin EDIT: I have PM'd him now.

My 240 Auto went to meet the big man in the sky yesterday and I now only have a few items remaining on my webspace available.
See http://www.colin-lee33.pwp.blueyonde...tos/index.html Iv'e never scrapped a car before and wanted to keep as many parts as possible available to the 240 community and that is one of the reasons I broke it. But in the end I need my drive space and many good body panels have now gone to waste. It's a crying shame, but it was stood on my drive for more than 2 months. The best scrap value was from a local metal merchant paying £170 per ton but they don't break it to sell parts - they just dismantle for the metal. I had already removed many valuable spares for my other 240 - callipers, alternator, door window glass, master cylinder etc etc. I think I have realised about £340 overall in cash, and the value of my spares from the car should help me keep my other 240 roadworthy for quite a long time. So my only dissapointment is the loss of those things I wasn't able to store or sell as, even if I'd sold it for £340, I wouldn't have the stock of spares I now have. I doubt I'd have been able to sell it for £340 as it was an auto ( not the best sellers ), it would have needed an exhaust system soon ( at least £200 ), and needed some sill repairs ( at least £100 ). There is no way it would have been worth a £640 investment by a buyer to get it into reasonable shape. But breaking a car in limited space is a pain in the bum ( especialy in winter ) and I don't think I'd do it again. It takes a lot of time and effort. I was sad to see it go though as the fork lift truck at the yard stuck its forks through the absent door windows and damaged the rooflining to lift it off the trailer. Colin EDIT: BTW thanks to all who bought from me.
