I've got multiple quotes of £30 for a man in a van to help me out with this, so should be fine. A new bed off eBay and a man in a van all in for £60 seems pretty good to me

I transported a double bed mattress thing with my S40 on the roof. There was no real over hang on the front as it was sticking out more on the back ... I did have a chest of drawers ontop of it as well. Tied that down with a lot of rope and ducktape and a bungee strap. Stayed on really well and commuted with it from Cirencester to Lemington Spa ... nearly 2 hour drive up the M5 (I was slip streaming a lot of lorries all the way down)

(I did have all of this on roof bars and not directly on the roof of the car)

Never use bungee straps to secure loads on the roof as they can stretch and snap.
