Pretty sure I was on the plug but will double check next time I get underneath. Getting that wrong wouldn't be a good day....

I would say depends how much slip you’re getting they normally go up a 100 or so rpm when you accelerate but if it’s jumping more and doing it when holding the throttle it’s probably torque converter.
I say this as I’ve just had to have a new torque converter fitted to mine the lock up function had gone and the stator on the one way clutch had failed but the gears were smooth so but the bullet and it is like a different car now. Unfortunately no amount of oil changes helped but definitely worth ago. |

I’ll do the oil changes when it turns up and drive it as is until it gets worse as it’s not a massive deal it just feels really strange but as I say it is a odd box anyway. Fingers crossed it’s just normal behaviour or slightly unhappy due to oil. If it goes pop I’ll get it fixed as it’s the perfect car for us even before you take into account budget. We need 6 seats and I don’t want to drive a mpv and other 4 x 4’s with 7 seats are lots more. |

It was £1320 all in with vat and new torque converter bolts plus all the oil it isn’t that bad considering the box has to come out which is a big job.

After lots more driving and reading I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just a strange box. 99.99% of shifts are smooth as butter and all its behaviour is repeatable with no issues or temp spikes (on Vida). I’ve seen a few very hard to find posts on forums with people mentioning the same things I noticed and it’s all by design. This setup of letting it slip without torque locking (among others) is very challenging to my mechanical sympathetic senses but I’m getting used to it.
The fluid is nice and cherry red and the box is behaving itself touch wood so I’m happy. |

dont compare the geartronic gearbox with any other kind of auto is a completely different thing as it can learn]] how you drive and adjust shift points. change the fluid and reset the counters and the adaptions . with vida fluid level is critical to have optimum performance .
