Hi Ian

sorry, my misunderstanding when you said spares etc, I guess you meant selling it complete for someone to use for spares, obviously not feasible for me. But if you do end up sending it to the crusher would you not consider taking the aerial etc off for me? You are right, the peg bit does commonly fail. It was my late fathers car and i know that he had replaced it once before. With the aerial you fitted, did you have any issues with the electric feed plug?
Thanks for your prompt reply

Hi, can't recall that I had any problems with the fitting - just seemed like a direct replacement. I did buy it from a Volvo specialist although I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Volvo part.
Are you sure you don't want to come up and drive it down (for spares) whilst the MoT is still in force!!! I would have to check with the breakers if a condition of them taking it was to have the complete car available to them - they would probably want all of the useful bits for potential resale,

Thanks.....

It looks as though my 440 might be off to the scrapyard early next week, if this is it's fate then I will take off the aerial and some other bits, so if you are still looking for an aerial let me know. I'm not looking to make cash out of this sale, just hate seeing good stuff get scrapped,

Such a shame.

If I had the space and you weren't so bloody far away, I'd come and take it off your hands.
Even if it was only as spares for my 480 and 460

Hope someone takes this, I really do.

Steve

Default Aerial & Trim

Hi Ian,

I certainly am still very interested in the aerial and trim bit although I have to say that I totally agree with doingitsideways, it is a fine looking car, a real shame that no-one will take it......

I paid about the same just to fix my rear arches 'cos I really like the car.

Anyway, if you still have the bits unless that guy who pm'd you bought the whole thing I'll wait to hear from you

OK, I'll see how it goes this weekend. If it's destined for the scrap man I will take off the aerial before it goes - the scrap man didn't even come out to look at the car when I took it down for a price, so he won't miss the aerial! The 440 also has an "as new" steel wheel spare with an unworn (but old) tyre, so I might take that out as well. Probably not worth taking out the trim/support peg though as it is broken as I said before. I can take out "the fix" that I used though and you can have that if you want it,

Thanks Ian! As Ian stated, I'm now the very proud owner of this fine car. As well as the photos on this thread, I plan to post some of my own. It would have been truly criminal to see this get scrapped - the mechanical condition is a true testament to Ian's hard work, and the history which came with the car is truly fantastic.
