I see no reason why they should only apply to the official VOC sections. Regular meets can be included and all I need is a set title for that section to set up the sub forum.

We (the VOC) are always looking for new sections so it is possible that one of these could eventually be made official if they are popular enough. We do have a process for formalising sections.

I know people may disagree with me but for what it's worth : Why won't people join the proper VOC rather than being heavy forum users, " premier members, master members " etc etc " ?
It only costs £24 a year , I think good value for ordinary members and must be worth much more to people who are regular heavy users of the forums. I can't understand how people can have thousands of posts on this site and still not join.

Rant over, now going to renew my membership !

I believe that there is already a South Wales section.
I run a completely separate (independant from VOC) forum for owners in South Wales. All the events that are arranged via SWV are completely open to all, without prejudice. I post the events on 4 forums in total.

Fair comment but it ain't that simple to work out why people do anything. Currently I haven't joined officially but until recently there wasn't the paypal option and seeing as I don't have a cheque book, credit/debit card joining was a hassle that to be frank just didn't happen. Even with Paypal I have to go down to the bank, transfer money from one account (Mrs account) to another (the one that paypal is attached to and my account ) and request a paypal transfer. To be frank remembering to do that is just something that is easy to forget. I was going to do it today but I forgot to do it as the Mrs went into the bank while I waited in the car.

Plus for some I presume they don't want to be part of a club specifically but appreciate all that this forum has to offer.

I find it easy enough to go into this forum and look for "Scottish Meet" or similar. That does not mean that I do not look at the other threads for what may be a convenient meet to attend.

If I was to look in a totally "Scottish" sub-forum there is the danger that I would stop looking at the others.

If the various forum definitions become more and more specialised there is the danger that some good stuff will be missed as it would take longer and longer to sift through the information presented.

(As an aside, thanks to those who take the time to set up and organise the various meets.)

Valid points. Maybe the best will be to set title prefixes, as in some of the other forums here. These prefixes could be anything, like Scotland, South Wales..

Hi,

I think a trial with prefixes would be ideal before committing to having separate sub-forums.

It will clearly ID the region of the meet without needing to investigate separate forums.
This will allow those who like visiting other areas for meets to be able to see ALL meets and also know which region is involved..
