They cant be using volvo screen wash, I hope they don't overcharge you for it.

Just make sure your windscreen wash reservoir is full with your choice of product before you get the car serviced, service overcharge for topping it up anyways.

I thought this white deposit issue was something to do with a compound used in manufacture and eventually cleaned itself out? Weren't people with aqua blades reporting them blocking up with white gunk?

It's a tinted blue liquid which evaporates in seconds with no traces at all ,much like methylated spirit, Unless they have changed the formula recently .

I have been using it for at least 40 years now in all sorts of cars.

That's not my experience. The official Volvo screen wash leaves a white waxy residue which can block the jets. It's definitely Volvo - I have had bottles of it in the past. Where I live - in a cold climate - it produces this waxy residue.

I use the Prestone stuff instead which leaves no residue. The worst for residue is the current Halfords mix - truly dreadful.

Maybe it different up North due to some other reason, but down south here it leaves nothing in my experience over 100,s of 1000's of miles. It has anti bacteria formula in it too to prevent the jet blocking bacteria found in some wash bottles.

I wonder if it's a water type impact. I'm also in the south, and have endless problems with Volvo screenwash, so perhaps it's the hardness of our water or something? Anyway, happy with not using the Volvo screenwash as I've not really noticed much difference in performance so far.

I live in a hardwater area and use the halfords minus 20c stuff (and have done for years) with absolutely no issues.

Yep, my rear washer just dribbles and I suspect there is a blockage somewhere. Is this valve you mention accessible to clean?
