Isn't this the reason, or rather a fault with this system, for the large recall of Volvos that was announced recently?

The nonSenus software often decides that a parked car or sometimes coming around a bend will pick up a car going in the opposite direction and have a momentary random brake, annoying and typical of the flaky software, but never a full on bring the car to a halt.
My previous Merc GLE did perform a full stop once returning through the Channel tunnel height gates, which given I wasn't hanging about and there was only 5cm clearance wasn't a bad call

Does this happen with the setting to the lowest level?

Not sure, never tried it, but TBH it should work out of the box without me fiddling with it, even the better half's Ford Kuga City Stop dosen't do this

It does work straight out of the box, and the fiddling you mention is to adjust it to your own requirements as everyone has a different driving style.
An old slow man may want a higher sensitivity setting than a young whipper snapper who drives in a totally different style. The manual will explain all the features and options available to the driver.

I had it happen with my 2012 V60 quite a few times when going passed a lorry (in lane 1) whilst being in lane 2.

Had it happen once in torrential rain also, which was fair enough as the lorry I was passing was kicking up pretty much a wall fall amount of water.

Lights flashing, noise pinging and anchors on. Doesn't stop dead but anyone behind me close wouldn't stand a chance.

I almost get anxious driving passed a lorry now. I tend to hug the right hand side of the lane I am in to try and avoid any issue.

Exactly, but for some, settings or no settings, it's always wrong.

I had a sudden city safety stop recently. I’ve posted this in another thread “city safety”.
It happened on an urban road - no obvious reason- but braked sharply and stopped the car. I was travelling 25-28 mph. Belts tensioned, braked, white notification came up “city safety initiated” moments later. However I was able to accelerate away subsequently without problem. But if the lorry behind had been closer I doubt he could have stopped.
