If they are not overly fat, your car might not have been fitted with stering lock limiters.
They are 215 65 16 on Tellus alloys......original fitment wheel and tyre spec.

Can you post a picture of the control arms shown in VIDA

As Juanpen pointed out, your vehicle would not have had steering limiters on the control arms (aka wishbones). Look it up in the ipd online catalog.

What is the exact model year and designation of your vehicle? Is it a V70XC or an XC70? What is the model year?

On the V70 (which does have the steering limiter pad) there is a metal prong or projection on the hub housing which contacts the steering limiter pad when the wheel is turned to the stop. No doubt your hub does not have this projection. On your vehicle there must be another system closer to the steering gear which limits the turn angle.

If the weather is okay tomorrow, then I will jack up the car and remove the front wheels again. This time I am going to disconnect both track rod ends, then move the hubs left and right to see if there is any restriction or graunching noises. Plus then it will give me an opportunity to see if there is a physical stop that prevents the hubs from over travel

So what limits the amount of steering then if there are no steering limiters fitted to my wishbones........or is there something within the steering rack that limits the amount of steering travel.

As above and definately no steering stops on wishbones or hub. Disconnected the track rod ends and no restrictions felt at the hubs. Also, no physical stops to prevent over travel of the hubs.

Something must be fitted within the steering rack that limits the amount of steering travel.
