Crikey, an old thread but very interesting. I had no idea fin was a dummy and no idea most cars use heated screen.
I too was wondering why the radio reception was so bad, put it down to crap radio.
I guess the only solution is to fit a seperate aerial as sorting a heated screen would be stupidly expensive.

Default Radio question

Not had this at all on my 2010 V50. Might be age related, i.e . heat cycles that have weakened the aerials abilities? Check for breaks when hot?

The element in the side window drivers side only is only the radio antenna not heated there is some suggestion on internet that a break in the heated rear window may cause arcing which interferes with the radio signal there's quite a lot on net re this but none specific to V50 I was hoping someone would have fixed this and have some info re the repair

So I have checked the elements of the rear screen heater and although there are two spots that are cold I have bridged across and the radio still had interference I also checked all over with a meter and have continuity what I haven't done is remove the trim and checked right at the edge which is I suppose my next move also check connections to aerial amplifier and the heated rear screen connections
Questions how do I remove trim round inside of rear window and where are and how do I get to the connections for rear window and aerial
any help much appreciated
