Isn't the answer no?

The plastic stop valve on the manifold is just that, a stop valve. It has two settings, on and off.

It makes the engine stop smoother than just cutting the fuel. I definitely noticed the difference when I had the vacuum pipe off the turbo as it shares the vacuum reserve tank with the stop valve.

No stop valve = lumpy stop.
Stop valve = smoother stop (not always).

You are talking about the actuator on the turbo?

Pull the vacc pipe off it and if it has vacc but the arm doesn't move then your actuator thingy is probably knackered.

Also you should be able to move the actuator arm up and down by hand but it has a surprisingly strong spring on it.

If you are talking about the black plastic valve on the inlet manifold then it activates for about four seconds when you stop the engine.

Thanks bob I'm going to have another look at it tommorow the pipes can all come off for a good look no movement in the actuator arm mate I've taken the vacum line off etc, I'm going to replace both the n75 and the actuator worst comes to the worst it's going to need a new turbo I guess. I like the car so it's worth spending some cash on it but I'm toying with the idea as hopefully I've got a new job on Tuesday a s60 d5 or xc90 can't make my mind up on which x40 can stay aswell. I fancy a change I've been driving x40 for too long lol bob.
