Just checked mine and it's the same. I suppose all I can say is welcome to the club.
Actually apart from the extra service cost and greater potential for failure, the engine is very clean with virtually no smell of soot. This is something that I like a lot. As the song goes, "always look on the bright side". regards |

Why would you want to? The larger volvos have a better quality Particle filter which doesnt need to be changed . This goes for late S40/V50 now too , If the filter was taken off you would have engine management issues ..

I know its a different engine but I had a long term power loss problem which got that bad around december I started dismantling various bits of the car ( 2003 V70 D5 ) , I didnt want to use a dealer or garage as various ones had already had a go and failed to find the problem . I cleaned out the egr plennum , satisfying amount of gunge came out but then I removed the intercooler as the gunge goes on down the pipe to that thinking that was burst , more gunge but still no power. I then purchased what I thought was a turbo off ebay( the advert did say D5) and removed my own turbo but didnt notice until it was too late that it was the wrong turbo ( dont know what its off but its got Volvo stamped on it with a five outlet solid manifold that is part of the exhaust turbo chamber and its using an electric actuator for the wastegate rather than the pot type thing , will post a separate photo ,maybe someone can tell me what its off then I can buy a car to fit it to and please dont tell me I am a plonker as I get told that everytime we go to the pub , I knew I should never have mentioned it ) , anyway there was nothing wrong with my old turbo except that it whines a bit so I put the old one back on but still no power . Next I disconnected the MAF unit and went for about a five mile drive , great there was no power but now consistantly no power and felt just like I would expect if the turbo was not working , got home and plugged the MAF back in and since then great , car back to what it was a year ago and I do a lot of miles , it was a real fault and since January has not come back , I also forgot I also disconnected the O2 sensors and removed one but this also didnt make any difference . Still dont know what caused the long term problem but fiddling about with all the wiring harness plugs seems to have cured it .

I very rarely have more than 10 litres of fuel in at a time. Dont ask why, thats what ive always done with all of my cars.
I cannot be the only person who does this? Surely that would mean then, that no additive would be added to the tank because its never been full enough? |

My dealer once told me that problems have been encountered with DPF on low mileage cars that are only used on local short journeys. Doesn't quite cover the fuel volume issue, but still may add to DPF blocking problems perhaps. |

old post but same problem.
have 05 1.6d sometimes struggles to rev over 2000 and won't go near 3000. but if you restart engine it clears the problem and she's back to normal. altough if you try rev over about 3500 the engine shuts down and won't bump start you have to stop switch off the engine and restart. a trusted mechanic has told me about clearing the DPF, but was unsure if this was causing the shut down and advised me to look into it further before taking it in for unnessecay work. any suggestings |
