Yes, thanks. Think ill attempt changing the battery - my soldering skills are messy, but functional, lol, just hope the battery hasn't leaked and destroyed the unit.
The thing that concerns me is re attaching the unit and arch liners if it's pop riveted on...

the other thing may be!!
if your running the battery low , the solenoids in the doors start slowing down only fractionally but its enough for the ecu to pick up.. mines been doing it since sept, doors lock fine but i have 1 lazy solenoid in the rear pass door

Is it ok to drive around with the alarm module disconnected (eg. when driving to Maplin to replace the batteries)?

I think it is fine to drive with the alarm disconnected. I removed the fuse to the alarm in my 2004 V70 (If I recall correctly #38 in the panel at the end of the dash) a couple of years ago because I the alarm was not working and I thought it was running down my main battery.

How did you disconnect the alarm?

mmmm i got the same problem in my 2000 s80, but the first message was, "please check the car as the alarm as sounded) now i get the the service mesage lolz

im a complete noob so may take it to the dealers see what they say lolz

as for the battery for the key fob, 2 battery's with them fitting (pre warned it could do something with the immobiliser if done incorrectly) grand total for the 2 fobs, was £4.71p lmao dunno how they got the 1p lmao for 2 items

Any Ideas on the battery size ( volts ) im thinking its a 12v NiMh . . .
as the original is made up of a button cell X3

We have now found out thanks to Bernard this is in fact a 7,2v NiMh 3x button cell at 2.4v each

Sorry to hijack this thread, but just wondering - my alarm is really quiet when it is activated; is this a symptom of the alarm battery being past it's best?
