Fill at different garages around the country and don't think they can all be that far out (about 15%)

After a long journey, with several fuel stops and after resetting the mpg before I started, the computer said I achieved 34.3 mpg. The real calculations on the fuel used worked out at 31.6 mpg.

So in my case, its a 7.8% over read.

Hi all - I have just ran down my first full tank (till the fuel light came on).

Miles - 382
Liters Used - 59.35
MPG - 29.26 - stick this in excel if you want to work it out. =382/(59.35/4.54609)

Trip Read Out MPG - 33.1

So my question is anyone RICA'd their XC90 with good results on the fuel economy ?

values trip computer shows are not accurate because every one has different style of driving. computer cannot be programmed to person and driving style every single time. by the way looks better(when you do test drive) when shows more miles..

Just completed a round trip from Harrogate to Lydney in Gloucestershire. This is a 500 mile round trip taking into account a couple of detours.
Full tank before leaving and all MPG things zeroed.
MPG on display showed 40.1MPG I needed 65 litres to fill up after 497 miles.
That a real world 35-36 per gallon. Not bad for 2.5tonnes of car with four passengers and luggage!

Car still had 30 miles in tank when I filled up so I could have gotten 530 miles to one tank! Normally get just over 400.

I am not really asking about the trip computer, more about if anyone has RICA tuned their XC90 and if they have seen any improvement in MPG. That is actual MPG not the accuracy of the trip computer.

Although it is interesting to read what you guys are getting. What speed are you sticking to on the motorways, are you using the cruise ?

Are you strict on checking tyre pressures etc ?

Be interested to know.

Probably better to start a new thread as this one is about the trip computer's accuracy I think.

I will provide long term details ( I have an app to record mpg) but long term, my trip computer says 31.4 and real mpg is 28.8.. Real? Well, knowing that the odometer is 5% optimistic, that another 5% less so about 27mpg

At 142p a litre of diesel...It is 23.7p a mile
