wow. that's shockingly low.
thanks. you are the man.
I don't know much about cats. I thought they had to comply with certain rules, but I was reading that's only for cars after 2001.

Are they ok though? Would you buy one for your car or would you go for a type approved?

I opted for the dearer approved one which seems fine and was also a good fit. I think a couple of people on here ( Vovo Always perhaps ) have bought the cheap ones which have also been fine

I was worried about the fit. Maybe someone who has bought one will give their opinion. Couldn't find anything by searching the forum.
Think it's time to start thinking of changing the whole exhaust system. Manifold and downpipe are solid, so i guess that's a positive. Thanks for the link. I was panicking with skandix prices. Just hope they ship the cats to Spain.

How much did cat and cat back set you back? 500€?

I also found a german website that sells homologated cats for 160€.
https://www.bandel-online.de/abgasan...1989-1998.html

R&D parts for 180€: https://www.rendcarparts.com/en/search/search

And PFS parts for 130: https://www.partsforvolvosonline.com...2255f9803c7175

My 1996 940 has a BM make, none type approved cat and downpipe fitted for the last 4-5 years. The cat has been good. Always had high emission levels but have now fitted a new lambda sensor, so hoping limits are lower on the next MOT, and not a cat issue.

The BM cat was £55 and still looks good. Was fully replaced from turbo on. Just replaced the backbox as holed/blowing behind exhaust band. Think rest of exhaust was Euroflow or BM. Next time will fit Volvo kit from cat on.
Bought a Klarius tailpipe and the bending and outlet size was shocking quality as outlet much smaller than rest of pipe! Re fitted old tailpipe!

Volvo kit at least all fits nicely, but on my 240 parked on grass and small use rotted out at around 3-4 years, mainly backbox and over axle pipe.

James

Did cat fit nicely and had the proper space for the gasket? And the size was correct?
