The plot keeps thickening vvt puulley was meant to come today but yodel managed to loose it so ended up stripping it all down again starting from scratch and using marks at opposite end of the cams with new spark plugs that i checked gap on myself coil pack swapped round and on first turn of key the engine croaks inti life on cylinders 2&3 so still no change injectors are putting petrol into cylinders but still not fireing. The spark plugs are new and they are sparking possibly at wrong time.

Hi.. As many have said this cant b the vvt pulley.. Unless u have undone the bolt that holds it on ?. This pulley has no keyway to line it up.. It just sits on a cone and relies on the bolt holding it in the right place. Volvo use a special tool to lock the two cams in place when changing this. Still sounds like leads or coils if yr 100% yr timing is spot on .. If it never misfired befor it has to b timing or leads sureley. I work in a dealer and have never heard of the pulley causing any kind of misfire.. Hope u find the fault .

Are you 100% sure you have the HT leads on in the correct order, did you remove the leads from the coilpacks or just pull them off the plugs?

Starting to get somewhere altho could be worse then when i started took the rocker cover off and found out the marks in the pulleys are way out both sides of the valves are opening within 15 degrees of each other spoke to who i got car from who gave me the garage who changed the cam oil seal and suposidly changed timing belt when i got in touch with them they told me they remember doing the job but whee instructed to put the old timing belt back on and as they locked the engine off thry dont need to make sure thst the pully is put bsck on properly so i have been playing around withba timing mark that might aswell not be on. What i need now is a technical drawing of how the opposite end of the cams is meant to be or some advice on how to set them up i know the exust cam is in the right position as that has never been off but need to set the other cam up please help
