There is also a temperature sensor in the engine block under the inlet manifold. If this has failed then it goes on sending the signal that the engine is cold, so over-fuels.

According to my Red Haynes, section 6.3, it should have a resistance of 2,100 - 2,900 ohms when cold and 250 - 300 ohms when hot.
