Cool

I have just had a similair problem & it turned out to be a leaking water pump, which had to be replaced. If memory serves me correctly, (bearing in mind I am a humble woman & not a mechanic) from underneath, even with those blasted engine shield things, it is located near the radiator at the front, towards the left a bit. (Drivers Side) For some reason, ours was leaking, not whilst the engine was running, but when the engine was turned off. The only time I could see water on the ground was when the wheels were turned so you could see inside the wheel arch.

Hope you get it sorted & that it doesn't cost you the earth, as Mill Volvo Newcastle (Main Stealer) wanted a crock of gold to replace the thing.
A local garage fixed ours for £100 all in. which I thought was more like it! - The pump I think from GSF was about £21 & the garage have warrantied it for a year.

Hi Volitive...thankfully mines just cost me a measly £2.99...the flourescent dye helped alot in identifying leaky bits..i determined by visual inspection that Radweld should sort it out..a female colleague at work just payed over £180 for a radiator supplied and fitted by a indy(Volvo original is only £80)..

Question

Early 400s 1992 to 1993 all seem to have had problems with core plugs,
mine went behind startermotor and timing cover.
Was told at the time 1995 ish that the chemical volvo used to flush out
the blocks after machining was found to rot core plugs .
They were not getting flushed through enough.

Easy to fix just hard to get at some. Could be simular problem with some older 4oos.
