Thanks but what I'm curious about is how independent garages or DIY oil changers manage to reset the service indicator without VIDA?
If you change the oil then wouldn't the oil quality sensor be reset automatically? Cheers, iep |

When you reset the reminder by hand , the mileage/time/engine hour counters will be reset , but not the oil quality sensor .

Thanks again. So, if all the other counters are reset, how much of a problem is it if the oil quality one is not?
I'm just curious how people without VIDA manage to perform an oil change on these cars. Cheers, iep |

On marine diesels and other heavy plant machines the oil quality is checked on a regular basis and if the oil is found to have a higher than acceptable level of carbon then the oil is changed regardless of hours run. If the carbon level is continually too high this could indicate a fault on the engine, leaky piston rings or similar.

Help ! I have just tried to reset the "Book Time for maintenance" message after an oil change etc . Have tried both methods described on here multiple times but still get the message. Clan can you help? My car is a 2007 v70 SE Lux
