ENV the diff comes out forward as a unit with the housing. Rear cover is fixed. Spicer the diff gears come out the back. It has a removable cover. Although the 4.10 and 4.56 ratios may be the same the parts aren't interchangeable. The Amazon Estate has a similar problem but that Spicer axle only has a 4.56 ratio available for it. Saloons use ENV.
Discussions about diff swapping have been going on forever with Jeeps usually mentioned. I have yet to see any positive results. As said the way the PV mounts the axle makes things even more difficult. In the past there were bracket kits to allow a 4.10 saloon axle to fit an Estate. I've seen pics of the brackets but none of a completed conversion.

Sorry to confuse you 142 Guy My PV has a ENV with 4.56 diff. I also have a Amazon Spicer/Dana axle in my shed which,I presume, came off an overdrive/estate car as it also is 4.56 ratio. So I have put an enquiry out for a 4.1:1 axle for a 544 but don’t hold out much hope. If I simply can’t live with my car as is, then, I may experiment with the larger tyre option. But this would involve modifying the front wings to prevent contact on lock. Something I’m not keen on doing!

So Derek UK are you saying the two ratios of crown wheel and pinion ( 4.1 and 4.56) fitted in ENV axles are not interchangeable? Or did you mean not interchangeable between the two makes ( ENV and Spicer/Dana)

I can't answer you with regard to the PV axle. I would think that there is a good chance the the PV 4.10 and 4.56 crown wheels will interchange. If you can find a pair of 4.10 ones they may have to come from Sweden. Try KG Trimning perhaps. Give John Crosskey a call johnsignwriter@aol.com mob.07957 110 158 he might be able to help. Check him in the Parts for sale here a few ads ago.
It looks as if ClassicSwede, Dai here on the forum has conversion brackets for the Amazon axles. They are about £200 or so. That doesn't help you much.
