I replaced mine with a second hand v70 one from a breakers in Holland. I didn't take pics but its quite easy. The air unit is on the near side front under the scuttle panel. Basically remove the near side wiper and then use a small punch/ drive to push the centre pins through the plastic lock pins , 2 in the corners and 4 along the length of the panel, there are also two slide clips. I say only to remove one wiper as you can gain access by swiveling the panel around the remaining one with plenty of room. Unhook the plastic cover that sits under the screen and over the unit before removing the plastic lipped surround (theres four plastic latches). Get a head torch and look from the corner of the bonnet- You can then peer in and see the AQS situated in the middle at the very front of the plastic ledge -its covered with a little domed sensor protector that sits on four legs. DON'T touch the protector as it can snap off easily (I did this and had to glue it back). Getting the sensor underneath to unlatch from the lip is a real PITA until you work out how to do it. Grip it from underneath and turn it clockwise to release (yes clockwise) it should then tilt and slide out fairly easily. YOu really need the hands of a mouse to do this easily and this is why I struggled with my large puddings. Once undone its a case of pressing the clip lock connector and it unplugs. Refitting is the reverse of the above.
Hope this helps someone as I could have done with this info beforehand. Would be interested to see if the VW one is compatible so please report back with findings |

Mine arrived today Mike, although I probably won't be able to look at fitting until the weekend.
Any sign of your one yet?

Sorry, it just hasn't been possible this weekend.
I will report back when I manage to get it fitted, although I suspect Mike might beat me to it if his turns up soon.

I've had a chance to fit this to the car today and can report success (I think) - I now have no CCM related codes reported by Vida. The only minor fitting issue was that one of the locating/locking tabs needed a little trim with a stanley knife before it would fit.
A note of caution: My car is an early P2 V70 (2002 MY). It seems like there are different part numbers for this sensor for different chassis numbers and that perhaps this will not work on later cars. I don't know, but be warned. If that is the case then there must be an equivalent sensor out there that does the job.

I bought one for my 2005 V70 D5 facelift. it fits but as outnumbered I get the same CAN code. If you have the pre facelift model it works, you can have mine for the £12 it cost me.
