  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

If you unlock your car with the key after arming with fob, the alarm will go off upon entry I believe. It will turn off when the key is inserted and turned in the ignition.

If you lock the car with key instead of fob it will not operate the full alarm system I think.

To get a key cut for your type of key, a transponder is needed to be coded also. There is a cheaper alternative though which I once did. Get as many keys cut as needed without chip, then glue the original key inside the plastic steering wheel shroud. That way you will not pay for extra transponders, but your immobiliser will not work as it was designed to.

It is a risk, but all depends on the value of your car and obviously your neighbourhood. Just don't tell anyone you've done it obviously.

I wrapped foil around the key handle and the car started for about 2 seconds and then died, removed the foil and she started first time, your idea re putting the key in the steering shroud sounds good. I dont often use the remote fob because it is so unreliable even with new batteries in it.
