Thank you all once again for your informed and detailed responses. I mentioned that I had contacted Volvo Cars direct. I have now recieved a reply from their Heritage UK department and they confirm that the Volvo Antifreeze Product Code 31439721 is suitable for cars before 1990 i.e. the Amazon. I have therefore ordered the same. By the way, it is green in colour so should not be confused with the modern orange or other blue varieties. My next challenge is the headlining so that is a separate post!

Further to your helpful comments I checked with Volvo direct and they confirm that their proprietary antifreeze is suitable for classic cars - cast iron blocks - so that is what I will use.
