If it had to be a daily driver then our friend in PB wouldn't be able to get the cheap insurance, and the later cars won't be ULEZ compliant, but it would still be a lot of motor car for £2,000 to £3,000. I notice the seller has put it in the 'cars' rather than 'classic cars' section on eBay - which might be a bit dull as many potential buyers might not look there. :-) Alan

In comparison I've just paid £48 to insure the RB, there is no tax due and no MoT test required, so that is it for fixed costs. I suppose if one looked at this 1989 motor car, which won't qualify as an historic vehicle until April 2030 (assuming the scheme is still running) that is 8 years at about £400 extra/year, so around £3,200, which is more than the motor car is worth now. :-)

He messaged me back.
It's been getting advisories on 4 x aged and cracked tyres on the last MOT, so will need 4 boots if that hasn't been done. Otherwise the MOT history is pretty decent, mainly clean passes and the few fails have been minor stuff. I'll keep an eye on it and if the bidding is sensible I'll snipe at the end.
