Hill Descent Control, on the other hand, was standard in XC models with AWD. The did sell FWD XC70 and AWD V70, but they didn't have HDC.

HDC is perfect also for reversing with a trailer, since it allows for more precise control of the throttle. It's like a low gear, but electronic.
Do I take it that HDC (Hill descent control) is not something available as a retro fit?

Is 4C still an available option on newer models? If so, does it come under a new name and/or part of a pack?

I had a 2008 XC70 SE Sport which had 4C & adjustable power steering - I don't think they were options I thought they were standard on the SE Sport?

Did you notice a discernible difference with having the systems compared to a vehicle without?

Just in case I have adjustable power steering, where do you adjust it?

Could it be that "adjustable" power steering is being confused here with Speed sensitive power steering.??

I've never come across the former, in a V70/XC70 but have had two V70's ( although P2) with the latter, and the 2008XC70 defo had the latter as an option - I checked a Volvo PDF brochure.

Ah, now I see the ambiguity. My XC70 has speed sensitive power steering which is, of course, self adjusting but couldn't be called "adjustable power steering".

I can imaging that a heavy duty cross country off road vehicle might benefit from the driver being able to adjust the sensitivity of his steering but such a feature would be of little use on blacktop if the car had speed sensitive steering. I have never felt the need to override the speed sensitive steering but was intrigued that I might have overlooked the control to do so had the car had such a feature.

The adjustable steering force is directly related to the speed, but there is an option in the menu to adjust the force.

Yes, they were standard on the SE Sport, which only lasted a couple of years (iirc) - and 4C was also standard on the SE Lux for the first year (I think).
Thereafter, both became separate options only, like on the V70 - but never as part of a pack.
