Keyless definitely doesn't work anytime on my car.

Keyless entry works all the time on mine, unless my key is in its faraday pouch. However, I will try placing my key in the garage and leaving it on the side for 20-30 mins and then trying to open the car to see if it does deactivate.

If it doesn't work anytime, then it either isn't fitted to your vehicle, or it is bust.

Could you use your phone to unlock/lock the car instead of having the key in your pocket?

So I believe the key now does not send a signal until you press a button. Also the car only detects the key once it is inside the car.
This means of course that we have lost the ability to unlock the car by just walking up to it or locking by just walking away.
Keyless entry on Volvos doesn't work like that. To unlock you either need to press the unlock button on the fob or pull the door handle when you have the key about your person. Likewise locking involves either pressing the button on the fob or pressing the touch sensitive surface on the door handle.

Mine most definitely does not work like that you have to press button on keyfob to lock or unlock. Having been used to walk up / walk away locking / unlocking I queried this during delivery familiarisation at the dealer and was told Volvo had dropped keyless for security.
I can however unlock using app.

I don't think that is correct. I don't believe Volvo have dropped it. Maybe your spec just doesn't have it. Have you got the auto boot opener with the air kick? That usually comes with keyless.

A posting by sk546 4 posts up reports that he has keyless on a later model car, which also suggests it has not been deleted on security grounds.

Before I cancelled my MY22 V60 I had an order in for a momentum with options, it was keyless start only - you had to go for r design or inscription to get the keyless entry. It’s definitely still available though dependant on spec.

I have a MY23 (Oct 2022) V60 T6 Plus. : Keyless start , entry, and air kick boot and lock/unlock via the app.
Perhaps the Plus/T6 get more kit?

Cheers
Bob
