The rears aren't bad at all (just nuts and bolts, some a little fiddly, so not the best for a beginner unless you're feeling adventurous / have assistance), but if you're swapping the springs and shocks (only) the fronts need specialist tools (specifically spring compressors, and I highly recommend a pillar-mounted hydraulic compressor). I've done it, so you don't need to be a rocket scientist! Having said that, the more sensible approach is to buy a complete strut from a non-turbo 850 / 70, and bolt that in. That's a pretty easy / quick job...and far more sane than replacing the spring and shock alone! I'd keep the originals for the future. I would source the complete set second-hand from a non-turbo car. You ought to be able to get them for less than £100. I have a set of rears available (cost me £25), but they are pretty soft. Not sure what they were from, but "sporting" ain't the word!

You might be best off asking a garage for help. If they really get a shuffle on, they could do the lot in an hour.

The only thing that makes me a little nervous is that you might spend that money and find it all to be a bit too soft. I recently fitted a set of softer springs and shocks to the back of my now-departed V70R (which I'm happy to sell - I paid £25 for them) as a temporary measure after one of the self-leveling Nivomats started leaking....and the back end did tend to sag on acceleration! It might be worth trying out a non-turbo 850 / V70 to see how you like the handling / ride compromise.

cheers

James

Great stuff, glad the wheels have helped.

A pleasure to do business with you.
