Thats my dream car the gold 740 turbo

I have a set of those wheels, just need the car lol. I think the hardest bit will definately be getting hold of a volvo bodykit! Rare as rocking horse doo doo!

My eyes lit up when I saw the B230K tuning kit as I haven't seen it before. This would be for the 1987+ variants though wouldn't it? I've heard that the kit includes a V-cam but do you recognise the other parts or know what is written about the kit? I think I can see a diff cover gasket and gear?

Yes, the brochure is dated 1987.

I haven't got the brochure with me at the moment so can't tell what it says, only a few things that I remember. It is only for the 130bhp engine, manual only. There are no performance figures given, nor the total amount of NM or bhp increase.

As for the parts itself, I have no idea what they are except it looks like a cam + some other bits.

I think that figure of 130 must be what is achieved after installing the kit because the standard engine is 117bhp.

I confused that then as my father had a 1986 740 GLE in Sweden and that had 131 bhp. Lovely car btw in light blur metallic and blue plush. It even had air conditioning, electric windows and a radio!

The neighbour at the time had a 1985 740 GL and that had 112 (or 113) bhp.

The gold car has what is known as the Aero kit if i recall correctly.

The b230k tuning kit looks like it includes a cam, and looks like a different pinion for the diff hence the diff gasket and bottles of oils.

My '88 740 GLE was a 131bhp aswell - K-Jet injection though (B230E).

I think that may have been the same engine as the "E" denotes no cat and in 1986 cat was not law in Sweden (became law on 1/3 1987).

Anyway, nice car and engine. Dad had the 4 speed manual + overdrive (button).

I put the wood stripe across the panel like in the brochure using wood burl adhesive vinyl. Nice benefit to working in a sign shop. It adds a little dash of elegance to all the black and tan plastic.

Also, someone should have told the guys that did the body kit to put hub spacers in the rears of those Nivomat cars they lowered. The tow in is unbelievable!
