Ive read the codes from A7 and it returns one this is 1-2-2 saying that the temperature signal is too long.

This may be linked to your fuel and temp issues....

Try inserting flylead into A7 and press button 3 times...
Then look at the instrument panel, paying particular notice to the position of the fuel and temp needles...

Possable Causes:
Defective earth to instrument panel
Defective Temp Sensor
Defective Temp Gauge

Ive ran the test by inserting fly lead into A7 then pressing the button 3 times

Everything moved to the following:

Temp full
Fuel Gauge half way
RPM 3500
Speed 70

Advice on the next step please

That is what it should be, indicating to me that i would expect the is a issue with the fuel consumption signal from the ECM into the microprocessor or a problem with the microprocessor itself...
That said it could well be a problem with your fuel level sensor which is where i would start..Is the gauge accurate?...of course you may never know unless you run out of petrol...
I would drive the car with a gallon in the boot...
Run out and refil from boot can..
Fill up with 35 litres ASAP
Check the resistance on the sensor connections expecting to find a resistance of 150...ish ohm
Failing that get a calculator and work out MPG the old fashioned way..lol

You could do worse than removing the Engine management ECU(s) from the box left or the radiator and making sure the contacts are clean.
Dissconnect the battery and leave for 10 minuites before you do this.
Remember the radio code.

the MPG is around 23-25 to the gallon working out the calculation thus

£30 of petrol at 103.9 = 28.87 litres / 4.54 = 6.4 gallons

149.5 miles /6.4 = 23.35 mpg average

I do not drive slow, legal but not slow, 40 miles at 70mph with the sport button engaged, 70 miles towing an old 1981 caravan.

I will check the fuel sender at the tank end before I start removing ECU's
