I followed it all the way back to the rear passenger side corner. Are you sure you got the correct wire? As there are two I believe you can choose from.

It was the grey/violet cable. I found it on the wiring diagram and also had it confirmed by a contact at main dealer. Maybe I should try again and make a better connection.

Make sure you do not cut the cable at all. Just shred the cable off the outside (ENSURE power disconnected) then find something round and thin (I used the end on the volt meter to make a small hole in the middle of the cable and then thread the power for the sensors through and then wrap round.

Thanks Craigblues - I think I need to try again as is sounds as though I didn't quite get the connection good enough. I also tested with a multimeter from the back of the plug and found the current to be very low only 0.07 V - but maybe again prodding the pin of the meter into the back of the connector just didn't give a good connection. Once that happened I didn't retry connecting the sensor unit as I assumed there was a voltage issue at that point.

Will try again and make a more secure connection before going back to the drawing board..

Thanks for your input.

*shudders*
Reading that is like fingers down a blackboard...

To make reversion and fault finding easier and for a guaranteed contact, pop down to Wilkos or a hardware store (Hellfords if you must - last resort) and get some cheap crimp-on bullet connectors. You can cut the wire you want, bare the ends off and crimp a socket (female connector) to the live side (the battery supply) and insert the original wire and your added wire into the back of the bullet crimp (male connector) and push them together. Check it's working first and then tape it up. Twice. Once one way round the cable and then the other way (unless you have heat shrink?)

You don't even need crimps, good pliers will suffice. The connectors I'm talking about are the type you get with an single DIN headunit to fit an ISO loom that are attached to the red/yellow wires which allow you to retain SW/Permanent +12V to keep the memory.

After many many many nights in the cold and damp tracing wiring faults that were due to water ingress in cables that were spliced, jointed and taped up by people that had come before me, I implore you to make sure you get a good connection and seal it up properly.
