Autodata or wherever non franchise garages get the oil volume from lists it as 6 litres which is not correct. Correct fill is 5.7 litres. I now remind my garage each time it gets serviced, although they now remember after the first service they did and I had the same issue that you have.

I did as others have, suck a bit out of the dipstick hole.

I bought a Sealey manual vacuum pump for about 60 quid on Amazon. I also have an electrical oil pump, bought from Lidl called "Ultimate Speed", which is good too. I've had to do this job a few times on my 2007 S80 D5. I've noticed annoyingly, that when I've put 6 litres of expensive new Castrol into the engine, changed the oil filter, and had to deal with the error code, and remove some oil, that it looks like the oil is mixed with diesel. This is understandable from what we know the issue to be. My question is therefore, is it dangerous to have oil in the engine that has mixed with diesel in the sump? Surely this oil has been degraded by mixing and becoming diluted with diesel.

I've asked that question before and the opinion was that the degradation of the oil with the addition of the safety margin left by reducing the sump "full" level is acceptable and the danger of overfilling the sump with a lesser contaminated lubricating oil is greater than the loss of lubricating efficiency of the oil. I found that difficult to accept but Volvo must have considered the balance of risks.

I also believed that a software update would alter the regeneration procedure and reduce the likelihood of fuel being dumped in the sump although the reduced fill remains. This would happen as a matter of course if the car was regularly serviced by a main Volvo dealer.

097 present with same message when I picked up my V70 2.4D, I think the oil had been topped up since I viewed it.

Cleared message with oil change to 1/2 (3rd X - XXX) and around 10 or so engine start cycles (did around 150 miles too but I now don't think that miles are relevant).

021 came up on occasion and still does with READ and fog light routine. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of that in a thread I started (https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=332445) any ideas Clan? Cheers
