yes you certainly do , i'm a qualified car AC engineer working on volvos for over 40 years -) yes of course 550 g , its the larger volvos with 700 - 800 g , It said in your first message you had a vacuum test ,yet you say above pressure tested , . When vacuuming the system it should be for 50 minutes otherwise you wont get all the water out .Most machine defaults are set to 20 mins vacuum .

Same story with my C70. The all singing, all dancing machine said it was fine and filled it up. Worked nicely for 2 days.

It'll be the condenser, the original gas charge got out somewhere and it wasn't past the seals.

I assume when it's blowing warm again in the next day or two you'll apologize to Clan for your rudeness in the face of his (perfectly correct) advice?

What checks can you make yourself if your aircon is suspect?
I'm told you can't hear a solenoid clutch anymore as the compressor is always running.
Also I was told the aircon won't pump cold air on a cold day, it was about five degrees when I bought my car so I assumed it didn't work but it seems just slightly cold on a warm day now.
Far too clever!

I can only go by the machine ,it pressure tested it for 20 mins and then put the gas in ! the aircon now works and will do thanks anyway also I've no need to apologise .

It would appear that someone does not know how vehicle airconditioning works. The compressor is driven by a belt & on the pulley shaft there is a seal where that shaft passes into the compressor body, refrigerant gas will slowly leak past that seal, it is a known fact. Vehicle A/C needs topping up every 3 to 4 years. I've just topped the A/C up in my van for the first time from new after 3 years. And I am a refrigeration / airconditioning engineer.

Well I didn't like to say as I know nothing but
AC Facts and Myths

A/C Fact: The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) designed the A/C fittings that are on your vehicle. These fittings have a SAE acceptable leakage rate of 1/4 ounce of refrigerant per year per fitting. That does not sound like a lot, but the average vehicle has 8 fittings. This means that you are losing 2 ounces of refrigerant per year. It is recommended that you service your air conditioning every 2 years. This will ensure that your compressor is never “starving” for oil. The older vehicles used to have systems that held upwards of 36 ounces of refrigerant. Today’s vehicles have much smaller systems that require as little as 15 ounces of refrigerant. The need to service your air conditioning has become much more important with these reduced capacities or system damage will occur.
