ask the service manager for them to check their download history list on thier download workshop computer, which will show which modules were updated on your car .

If it's any help I have just been charged £233 for a first service on a D5 XC60. Labour £90 and Oil £68 were the main charges. VAT and minor consumables made up the rest.

I remember from previous Volvo ownership that there are massive differences between servicing costs at Volvo dealers. I seem to remember S.Wales was the cheapest, I don't know if that is still the case. The NE of England has one dealer with a monopoly so costs here are high. The costs were so high that I did not use the dealer at all for servicing and unless things have changed, unlikely, then the same will happen again when my V60 arrives in a months time.

Whatever the software update was, I'm not happy with it -- the car is now gutless and doesn't pull below 2,000rpm in the higher gears.
As an example, 40-60mph in 4th gear before the service was always around 5.2 seconds on my private test road (which is pretty much what Autocar's road test data says it should be). On exactly the same stretch of road, it's now 6.3 seconds at best after the service. If I wanted a slower car I'd have gone for a smaller engine option. Dealer has been informed, and as Clan suggested, I've asked them to identify exactly which software modules were updated, and to remove any updates. Will update in this thread when I know more. |

Update about my post above -- I've spoken to the dealer, and apparently the poor / sluggish throttle response in higher gears at low / medium rpm that I reported is the subject of a Volvo service bulletin. Unfortunately the dealer wouldn't send me a copy of the bulletin, but they did read it to me over the phone.
The fix is a 'turbo adaptation', which involves following a defined road-test routine, putting the car in 'sleep mode' with a special sequence using the remote keyfob, then waking it up and following a road-test routine again. Apparently the dealer (Rybrook Volvo, Warrington, they've been very helpful) has done several of these in recent weeks, and all have been successful. They say it isn't related to the service or any software update. However I'm taking that with a pinch of salt because it was absolutely fine until it was serviced .... Anyway, I'll update on the results -- it's being done next Wednesday. Last edited by craigv60; Jun 8th, 2012 at 16:05. |

Warrington Volvo broke my S40
Craig...my auto diesel S40 went in to Volvo Warrington a couple a weeks ago for a service. Whilst there and without my knowledge they did a software upgrade. I had to take it back a week later as it was shaking violently when I started it and sounded like a ten year old LDV transit. Windows were opening by themselves and the aircon is broken too. Windows are fixed after I sat around for five hours and the car sounded better but tonight it has packed up completely. I found your post looking for others who have had problems with the upgrade and, lo and behold, I have found someone who has suffered at the hands of exactly the same dealer. They have been speaking to me for two weeks about this so for them to say there are no other customers with problems is an outright lie. Mine was also due to go back Wednesday but am calling Volvo Assist out in the morning as the dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree....

Good luck with getting it sorted, it does sound like an upgrade hasn't taken.
In fairness to Rybrook, they sorted my issue out promptly and it did fix the problem. |

Are you aware how much you devalue the potential information in your posts by using such arcane language? Most people here have English as their native language and the use of it is generally seen as helpful in assisting the passage of information
