Even more bonkers, its cheaper for me to insure a car fully comp than it is third party, its even cheaper if i put the wife on the same policy.

It is nuts!
The last few days as i said my missus has been getting quotes for herself and the difference is insane, she got 10 quotes from one comparrison site and the first (cheapest) was £998 third party fire and theft to the last (dearest) £3475 third party only, it just gos to show to shop about, her old company wanted £1699 for a renewel and change of vehicle, and get this, its cheaper if she uses the latest cheapest quote to insure her BMW 318i than it was for her last car, Fiesta 1.2 by about £100!

MADNESS!

put the car in your wifes name and if the insurance you have is full comp it should cover you to drive it if it doesnt belong to you .3rd party.
