OK, long time passed but...

cheshired5, you are correct there is no yaw sensor on my car.

Took the ABS module off and sent it away to be repaired, done and refitted.

Got hold of a VIDA/DICE just now and cleared the codes, then updated and it shows:
CEM-1A5F Communication with ABS control module Signal missing
ECM-510F Vehicle speed signal (VSS) - Signal missing

Googling shows ABS rings are cracked, but my mechanic has said the ABS rings are not cracked.
I will ask him to check again.

I see VIDA/DICE software has a lot of trouble shooting instructions but not sure what I'm doing really.

Any advise?

BTW I've got another thread goin about the throttle body (surge & coughing) and an issue with potentiometer #1, so been advised (after it was cleaned) to get a refurb one and fit that.... not took the plunge yet, wanted to make sure. Thing is the diagnostic isn't showing this now I've cleared the codes, why?

Thanks
C

Hi Craig, you were lucky. I bought a 06 D5 Manual (134,000 miles), gave it a good hard test run and it pulled beautifully, no warnings. On way home after 60 miles 'Low Oil Warning' came on, and then 60 miles later the red warning 'Stop Safely'. The oil had all but disappeared. My garage guys are working on it right now and have identified a threaded front nearside CVJ bolt, but nothing found yet to say where the oil is going. The handbrake needs adjusting too. Reading the various threads on here re excessive oil loss and handbrakes, I too am getting very concerned. I feel Christmas may have to be cancelled.

I've been to an Indy garage, they did a diagnostic (£50) to tell me the 2 same codes I went in with and asked them how to fix... Bit gutted really.
It ends up the helpful mechanic said it could be water damage in the ECM under the panel below the wiper arm drivers side and to check for mould or such.... Took it all apart and it looks bone dry, see image.
I called them up to say this and ends up they will look again for a hour in Monday, hourly rate!

Can anyone shine more light on this before Monday, I understand it must be an electrical fault.

Apparently there is no communications, hence the fault.

Thanks
C.

Looking up the codes in the Vida documentation it gives a list of things to check, if I'm to test these things do I disconnect the battery first?

I'm unsure whether I can unplug or touch certain pins etc. with power going to them. The instructions don't mention disconnecting.

My car is going back to Woodside Indy on Monday but wanted to have a go myself first before stumping up money for a dirty connection.

I have a Fluke multimeter to test.

Any guidance or just leave it to the pros?
Thanks
C.

If you battery is low or about to give up,this can cause a lot of odd codes faults to get loged.
Get your battery load tested most battery shops will do this for free..

The local car battery shop said it was showing 12.1v and rapidly dropping to 11.4 when I switch the side lights on. He suggested a new battery is required.

I've seen on Eurocarparts have stock of a Bosch one S5 model costing £86.. Any good?

Any suggestions for a good battery and place to buy?

Thanks

Main dealer and ask for discount.
It may cost £10-15 more but they're proven to last, that's assuming you're in it for the long term.
Mine is still original and firing first time after 12 years.

The car is 14 years old, so I don't think I will be keeping it much longer than the 5yr warranty on the Bosch battery, I'll ask Volvo on a price then I've got an idea.

Yep, no harm in asking.
I get 10-15% discount every time.

I just phone around today for 3 Volvo service filters (fuel, oil and cabin), with delivery, and without discount they were about £100, FRF were £75 delivered with discount, and a dealer called Sturgess was £56 delivered. It's definitely worth asking for a discount
