If it helps any, the pipes are an oval shape (on my D5 SE Geartronic anyway) - I measured them as 90mm x 57m.

There is a decent gap between the two pipes which should facilitate fitting two side by side easily enough. I didn't measure either this or the length.

Just picked the car up yesterday, so it is going to get the works today !

First impressions are decent, gave it a 70 mile 'italian tune up' last night, it returned 35mpg (I know that will drop big time around town - I saw singlie figures on the computer at one point - yikes !)

Struggled to adjust to the lights, as I've come from a car with Xenons. Need to investigate 'bulb' options. Will post some further thoughts later.

I couldn't find any pipe of a suitably large enough diameter that had a thin enough wall to form the Double-"D". In the mean time, rather than two rust pipes at the back end I've gone for two simple 76mm diameter stainless pipes instead.

they look good. did you make them yourself, or is it a replacement box, or steel sleeves that go over the top of the existing ones?

could you say where you got them from?

thannks

Even if they are 'homemade' (& you did hint that you might go down that route !), they look great ! I was serious about paying sensible cash for something like that, if you are interested in making some money.

I am slightly confused by the 75mm reference, how did you get them to fit? I am sure the existing pipes are bigger than that?

The genuine Volvo jobbies are almost £200, even via FRF. A local indy exhaust company is quoting me £140-£150 for replacement tailpipes fitted !

hancym, they look great.

its ridiculous the cost of a couple of replacement tips, when you can get a full system in the US for £200. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OBX-Catback-Ex...#ht_3187wt_905

or tempting for these....

They are a cosmetic addition; made from 76mm Diameter stainless pipe with a 1.5mm all thickness. I swaged a flange on the edge over the horn on my anvil and then polished the marks out. The stainless wasn't all that cheap for what it was but hey, stainless costs the earth nowadays. They are held to the original pipes using 3 x M4 stainless pinch screws.

I would possible consider making some for you chaps but it wouldn't be in a hurry and I'd need to consider what you offer would be. I don't want to rip anyone off but by the same token I need to make it worth my while. If I'm burning time in my garage making these I'm not getting all my other jobs done. The good weather is here and I can't do all my little jobs in the winter!
