When I bought my T-5 the owners wife called it the wolf. I said what do you mean. And she replied Wolf in sheep's clothing.
A good statement for these cars I think.

A T5 seems to have a more widely known reputation than an R bizarrely!
My insurance company are insisting I fit a seperate cat 2 immobiliser on the 850R as they are at significant risk. |

Also the Police have always used T-5 and not R. So T-5 is a well known mark. T-5 is an engine and not a car spec, the R is a car spec. Quote:
Although It wouldn't be a bad idea anyway.

850R is styled more aggressively? It has anthracite alloys rather than conventional silver.
Perhaps insurance companies are swayed by the use of T5's by the police... ... at least they will have experience of repair costs if watching "Police camera stop" is anything to go by If the t5 is an engine option is there a better spec to have it with. Ie is the SE t5 better than the GLT T5? I have 3 boys under 8 y/o and personally prefer full leather as it is so easy to keep clean. What are the shocks on the rear end? I have a 745 with a saggy bottom (oo er) due to Nivos being replaced by std dampers by a previous owner, I now need to fit heavy duty springs to suit. Confession time... Caravan owner. What do T5's tow like? I do like the idea of cruise, esp with auto box 'cos you can hit resume and car accelerates and changes gear up to set speed. Thanks for putting up with all of my questions

iirc nivo's were fitted as a optional extra at sale... they are i beleive a must if you want to tow although there are some aftermarket bits available to stiffen the back end if you buy a vehicle with normal springs and dampers...
i have never towed with mine anything more than my sons quad but the previous owner had done so.. the origional clutch lasted to 150k with 304 rica (lol) so the clutches appear to be up for it... cheers jod

Yes have noticed how understated these cars are, I only get noticed with the roar of the 5 pot and twin pipes, I also noticed cars are always pulling out in front of me on roundabouts, maybe i should get rid of the Volvo badge, only kidding guys.

Well, to put my experiences into the ring...
My first T5 estate was a 1999 V70 in dark blue. One day two years ago I was sitting in my home office upstairs at 3:00PM when there was an almighty crash. I ran downstairs to see the front door kicked in, two scally c*nts in hoodies running out of the house with my keys and my T5 roar off the driveway. The car was found in a field, written off, smashed into a tree. I live in South Manchester and the car was found in a field in Wythenshawe. Locals to Manchester will know why... I then bought a new shape V70 T5. The very first thing I did when I got it home was to boil a kettle and remove the 'T5' badge from the tailgate with the hot water. It now remains totally anonymous and I have great fun pulling away from 3 series 'Road Owner' BMWs on the motorway. I think the scally element really value the image of the 850 shape T5 and like them to go police baiting... |

i'm surprised at that, i spend over £500 on an alarm when i brought BT & it only knocked the insurance down £20 because they weren't bothered about having it
