Maybe that's because I didn't realise these cars could go as slow as 60mph on motorways, at "keeping up with the fast lane rep traffic speeds" we usually get around 700 from a tank

I know the trip is not accurate as I done a 200 odd mile journey down to London. brimmed it before I set off and brimmed it again when I got there, done the math and trip claimed I done 58mpg in reality with the fuel I put back in I got 49mpg |

Im not getting anywhere near this (V70 D5 AWD 185 Manual 56reg) normally about 34 commuting / pottreing about and pushing 37 on a 500 mile motorway run at 80ish (this is actual measurment figured not OBC)
I find there is a sweet spot with the 185 where economy drops round about 80, going at 78 makes a difference im not sure they are geared well for the engine. Before i became scared of speeding 85 made no difference and when you look at the engine curves i think even doing 90 would not make a differnce on that engine as it is then bob on its optimum for performance / power / load. On rural roads i do not use 6th and that makes a huge difference keeping it in 5th. Mine was also specified with the optomistic fuel computer which im thinking was now a standard option? however the good news is mine is a consistent 10% out so i now know without measuring what it actually is. You need to remember this is a very heavy car equal to a Disco etc so 30+ is not bad for what she can do. |

I have never done long enough a journey at 60 M/H to check the consumption at this speed, however the instant. consumption displayed is around 60 - 70 MPG.
At 90 M/H I get 34 MPG, and in town about the same. All in all far too little. V70 AWD D5 185 GT. |

I get 28mpg mixed local and long distance. On a 100mile run at average 60mph I can get 32mpg. Pure local can be down to 24mpg. Engine oil is fully 0w30.

Motorway at 60-70mph I can get 30mpg. Release the hooligan on A roads its down to low 20's.
On A roads, driven sensibly but with the occassional "Hooligan" moment (passing a line of cars stuck behind a wagon) you can 28-30mpg. I get many more 's per gallon over diesel - just not as many miles... Cheers Bob |

My petrol XC70 does around 26 on a combined run, being on lpg equates to about 50+ mpg compared to Diesel.
