the best i've had is 680 from just over 54litres of diesel. I'd be disapointed if my car didn't get 600 miles from a full tank, unless carrying canoes around on the roof!

And the best bit for me is that my brothers S40 2.0d has something like a 45l tank so he can cover no way near the miles i can go before filling up

Thats because its a Ford diesel, the DPF will probably go soon, or there will be an electrical fault, I did look at getting that model but then decided not to touch it with a barge pole after seeing the list of faults it has.

Plus you will have much better acceleration due to the extra torque, will be much safer to overtake on motorways etc, you don't need the extra 5k revs, I doubt that Vtec can break traction in 3rd can it?

You can get one for £50 if you follow my eBay link to the Euro priced one (€60). You will get noticeable increased power, but if you use it you will get decreased fuel economy (obviously). Once you have calmed down, your mpg will increase due to the power allowing you to get up to speed quicker (therefore more efficiently) and more low-end power enabling the comfortable use of higher gears, therefore using less fuel as the running revs are lower. Floor it though, and you'll guzzle fuel.
