Thanks for the post, I did not know what BKV stood for till the other half explained being blonde is my excuse, looking forward to it this year as we did not make it last year and have been told we are now taking both cars and the old caravan

Nottingham Trent Valley Section will be holding a table top sale to raise funds for the section, hopefully people will feel able to visit and make a purchase on the Sunday. We will be selling all sorts of odds & ends, not table tops though!
Regards, Richard. |

Plenty of info in April "driver" What's all the fuss about? BKV is run for VOC members, isn't it? All visitors welcome but if any body can turn up and enter what's the point of being a member

They can't turn up and enter, the BKV competition is for VOC members. However any one is welcome to attend the event and hopefully feel inclined to join the club.
regards, Richard. |

Being a member is fine but as so many join as a result of visiting this forum I feel they need to be encouraged to attend the events to see just what being a member is all about.I do not think non members should be allowed to enter the best kept volvo lineup, but to be next to it would be enough incentive to join so they can enter.
My first two bkv's I wasn't a member and as I was told to go park right over in the corner miles away from the event I wasn't to keen to join.It seemed to elitist. My wife refused to even walk over as she felt like we shouldn't really be interupting this private event. Why be a member if all you want to do is sit in front of your pc screen and type away for free?Gaining knowledge about your car, buying and selling parts etc. There is little incentive to pay for something which to most is already free. There is such a nice feeling being part of a community and attending the variouse meets and talking to all sorts of nice people. We are gradually having more for folks to see and do at each event and we do need to encourage as many as possible to actually join. Can I ask you Arcturus how did you become a member?was it as a result of this forum. And what do you get from being a member? If we just keep the BKV secret just for members it would soon die from lack of interest. The key to keeping any club active and vibrant is to advertise and encourage new members at every opertunity.THe "THEM" and "US" attitude has caused arguments on here before.I have heard"I suppose theres no point in arguing as his name is in blue".another one was"Well we aren't worthy as our names aren't in blue" I might sound like I'm causing trouble but I want to encourage and back this club tobe more than it is now,I truly believe we need to embrace each and every forum member to join.As I have pointed out before this forum is paid for and run by "MEMBERS"no cost to casual users.By saying things like "The bkv is run for VOC members" just allienates potential new members. Regards Brian. |

I signed up to become a member at last years BKV after being a member on here for about 12 months, it is important to encourage as many people as possible to join either the club or forum (preferably both) and embrace the ideas and opinions of the new members so that the club evolves and stays strong, getting non-members to the BKV is a ideal way to promote the benefits of the club to them.
