Hi guys we're talking imaginatively here aren't we as we can't promote speeding on the public highway on the forum as it's against the rules, as if we do it's condoning and encouraging people to drive at speed and in some small way it could be construed that we are supporting a climate of acceptability. There's nothing wrong with driving at speed at the right place and time - I drove at 100mph yesterday, however it was on a race track in a controlled environment. I hope you understand.

I was talking very imaginatively indeed - I rarely exceed 80!

Quite right IC, in my previous car I was once given a producer as part of a "random check" and the police enquired "nice cars the Skoda vRS, I bet it goes fast?" and I replied "no, it doesn't go over 70mph on the motorway, officer".

Anyway then we were both stunned into silence because it is not every day you see a pig fly right past your car window.

I did hear several years ago from an 'insider' that the change to silver was more of a cost measure. Forces used to buy their cars outright, but to save money they were now leasing them and the silver cars had a better residual value than the white, hence they worked out cheaper over the term of the lease.

Not sure just how true this is/was......

Yup, that makes sense. Though what do they so about the holes in the roof where the lights etc go I wonder? I was looking at a Met Police Astra in Ealing the other day and they didnt look like temporary fixtures.

Sorry to hear about your breakdown Iain, hope you got it sorted!

I've just picked up a VOSA (highways agency) application form (from the VOSA website, as I'm thinking of applying. They currently have all sorts of jobs, from Vehicle Examiner, to ESO (enforcement support officer). They also deal with MOT's etc.. It sounds like a very interesting job! Visit www.vosa.gov.uk for information about the Vehicle & Operator Services Agency.

Of course Iain, what I ommitted to include was that

[...] roar past them at the limiter at 155mph when you see them driving down your local private runway.

URGH- Vosa!!!

those four letters strike fear into every lorry drivers heart. Apparently they are rapidly expanding and in a year or so, every truck is likely to be stopped on the nations roads and thouroughly checked an estimated once every 5 weeks, tachographs and all. So watch out if your 1 minute short on your daily break or you have a bulb out cos the Vosa boys will get you!!

Maybe I should apply for a job too?
