You can usually tell if the gearbox has been separated from.the engine by looking at the bolt heads. In most instances you would only take the gearbox off to do the clutch.
You can also call Volvo to check what history they have for the car on the central computer, you can then see if the info the seller has matches. It's not 100% accurate as a car I had was missing a dealer stamped service within the first year as they had forgotten to add it to the system...whilst the car was a dealer demonstrator! |
