Don't see any real pattern - some do, some don't. I have 3 GLs, an '88, '89 and '90 - no vents. Dad has 2 '88s without vents. All GLTs seem to have 'em. Must find some scrap ones for upgrading!
(This isn't really getting any more interesting, is it?)

I saw the 240 come and go ! and they had them from the start in 1974 until recent ones around the 1986 minor facelift . Recent in 240 terms to me is when the 245 got the bonded rear tailgate glass ;-)

It's a useful feature and an easy upgrade if you car doesn't have them fitted.
They originate from the 140/164 which had no dashboard fresh air vents prior to the facelift in 1973. I've just removed a pair of vents from a '79 245 which I am breaking. The design of the pressing looks very old-fashioned, almost like something from a 1940s American car, so I wonder if they date back to Amazons or even PVs? John |

Your situation reminded me of this slightly. (No offense intended to anyone)

It was only ever serviced/repaired by the same Volvo dealership and at no time during it's life, nor coming from the factory, did it have foot-well vents. It didn't even have blanking plates or any mechanism for fitting them.

Strange how some do and some don't.
I recall Hampshire Police area cars (244s) having them - these would have been 'E' 'F' & 'G' plates when I was a 'proby'. My first Volvo, a Torslanda did not have them, it was a 'H' reg. My 244GLT did, I think, that was a 'Y' reg. My current 245GL on an 'F' plate does.
