Very good discussions with both referrals from yourself and DavieC. I am surprised at the varying prices for each service I have mentioned. EG my car is 2000 x reg C70 T5 GT AUTO. The cars mileage is 44K in June this year so hardly a high mileage car and well looked after as all 6 previous years have been stamped. No-one apart from Ian mentioned the fact that next year will be the most expensive as its cambelt change time! Cheers Ian. Volvo both in England and Scotland have huge variations in service costs and to be honest as long as the parts are genuine and yes I would prefer a volvo specialist, then Volvo dealers are out. All volvo dealers are pointing me in the direction of a full service. Why? this car I am sure needs its standard 18k service with the 7th year service bits added on. Quoted less than £120. Any thoughts?

Keith,
It sounds as if you have done your research and come up with the best deal. In fact the timing belt and tensioner replacement is not a fortune and can be garage done for less than £150 including parts. The only caveat is what the Haynes manual says: " Timing belt renewal at 80k miles"....NOTE..." it is strongly recommended that the interval is halved to 40,000 miles, particularly on vehicles which are subjected to intensive use, ie. mainly short journeys or a lot of stop start driving. The actual belt renewal interval is very much up to the individual owner, but bear in mind that severe engine damage will result if the belt breaks". I changed my first belt at 60k, but that was on a then 4 year old car, I have just had it changed again at 7 years old and 100k. Yep!...there is always someone ready to p*** on your parade!! Cheers, Terry |

Bump
I'm looking to bring this thread up to date. We're moving to the Elgin area next summer and wondered if there is any update to specialists ideally in Morayshire but anywhere north of Perth would do.
