Ali, it's already happening. Read any proposal from this so-called government; this morning on the news it's "road pricing." Grasping Gordon is blatantly trying to make even owning a car, never mind driving it, so expensive that only his department can afford it... AND WE ARE LETTING HIM!!!!!!!!! We are looking more like communist-era USSR by the day. Do any of us want to live there? Thought not! If Gordon is the Sheriff, does that make Ken Sir Guy?

I should refer you here to my latest post under "Take action NOW" in "The Lounge." These are the consequences, but The Grasper cannot or more likely will not realise...

Watching other drivers smoke and use there phones when driving should be banned too!! LOL
Just wait intill they ban company car & lorry drivers in the uk from smoking behind the wheel , I think its going to get real nasty! People will be racing down hard shoulders to get to the next services for a fag , this government is a dictatorship already without taking any more human rights! Its about time some people had respect for the real people that support the country like me , 20 fags a day, £100 petrol a week and a couple of pints of ale every night equates to £170+ every week most of which is tax! Thats almost £9k per year most of which is tax! Lighting or smoking a fag has never caused a problem for me when driving , only when I have tried giving up has the stress kicked in! Clearly my threads on the other area of debate are supported by this thread. It takes two hands to light the cigarette, put on the make up. V70 driver |

Hi,
On the subject of all these fags flying out of drivers windows... Should I mention chewing gum..!!?? However, if you go back to the time when you were learning to drive, all the things we now take for granted in doing, were not taken for granted and had to be learnt. So, take smokers (of which I am unfortunately one) who have smoked for years, driven for years too. The act of smoking - lighting up and disposal of waste is a well practiced art, and soon second nature in performance. Yes, you occassionally get the "fag butt flying back in the window" but rarely and it is an event to stop (safely) for. But getting a cigarette and lighting up are events I hardly take my eyes off the road for. Less even than for checking mirrors... Des. . .
