In any case, does the cabin filter actually remove fumes, or is it just for particulates (such as pollen)?

There may be more cars out there that are generating fumes but the owners haven't noticed. |

No car can “generate fumes” in the engine bay. You may have a leaky head cover gasket or head gasket, or maybe a leaky PCV- any smoke from under the hood can only come from leaking oil burning off in contact with hot parts (exhaust manifold, turbo, etc..) What Zebster and others are saying is that, rather than putting a fresh cabin filter to eliminate the odors you should be addressing the source of the problem- oil leak.

Isn’t this a symptom of the pre recall safety advice? While not all D4 VEA have had recalls issued doesn’t mean they couldn’t be affected..... car is under warranty take it to dealer ASAP don’t drive it until rectified to your satisfaction.......

Second year service tomorrow and I am hoping they can cure the fumes in the cabin issue. I have even installed a CO2 detector as I am quite worried about what I am breathing when I come to a standstill in my XC60. No indications of CO2 yet but I am losing patience with the car and may shift it on if the dealer can’t sort it. Shame as this is my third XC60.

Car in for service and I be just had the vehicle health check emailed to me.
One item identified as “red” - “Cam cap and rocker cover leaking”. Will find out more when I pick my car up later today. Hopefully the rectification of this will cure the fumes?
