I think maybe the online records didn't start until the mid-2000s so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. But if you didn't like the seller having spoken to him I'd certainly walk away

Online records started in 2005 so you need hard copies for anything before that to confirm everything is as it should be. I actually scanned all my MOT's yesterday and made an 'animated GIF' from them, I would post them up but I think the file is too big to post on here.

As suspected the file is too big but there's more than one way to skin a cat...

That’s very interesting how you have done that. It’s not that I didn’t like the seller, it was their interest on moving strait to the payment and how I was going to get it that worried me more than anything, they came on a bit strong shall we say.

I have to admit when I saw the advert quite a few weeks ago I did think it looks like a lovely car and being a 93 with the earlier bumpers makes for a rare one. I would hazard a guess it's right but the vendor is a bit. of a dipstick

It looks like a nice car and at £1500 it's not hideously overpriced but the ebay ad and the sellers feedback would make me wary. It is £1500 because it's been reduced 'SALE ON!! .... NEED SPACE!! ...' sounds like a small time dealer to me? and looking at his 100% feedback it's for two transactions unclear whether that's as a buyer or seller? When I bought my V70 via ebay I looked at loads and followed a few, but if the ad made me uneasy I didn't bother, ended up buying one unseen from a small garage south of London the ad looked right and their response to a couple of phone calls were good, and I'm still driving it 12 years later I think there is always going to be an element of emotion with car buying and ownership, and if that initial contact doesn't feel right the car will never feel right.

My only contribution here is that almost everything I buy on eBay has something a little ‘off’ about it so much so that I simply don’t buy or sell on their anymore.
The day feedback for buyers couldn’t be negative the site became a waste of space. |

A quick Google maps and it looks like the car is only a couple of hours away. If it were me I would be tempted to go and have a look, that way you'll never be left wondering 'what if'

I find the platform where a car is advertised has little bearing on the quality, or otherwise, of the sale offering. I bought my V40 blind on an ebay 'but it now' . No contact with the seller, just photos and description. Eight years later, still a wonderful car.
When I was looking for the C70 I viewed many cars; some on ebay, Auto trader and local garages that had a good reputation. They were all rough and nowhere near the advert descriptions. I eventually found the one I bought on Gumtree - it exceeded all expectations, which were set very high.
