AXA are to publish last years premium on your renewal - a great idea.

I'm with LV and happy to have continuous authority - a couple of years ago i went to renew my tax online and realised i'd forgotten to re-MOT !

It is a proper game, faffing with car insurance. I too get satisfaction when you sort a good deal...but frankly it would be handier to not have to!!

Almost always worth moving....and as you say, getting the things you need from the outset (such as Euro cover).
Also always worth a check on money-back websites (we use Quidco, but there are others like topcashback) - our last renewal (for t'missus SMax) was 250, but with 70 cashback.

Hate to disappoint you, but LV were cheaper on renewal v their online system for me for 2 years running....

LV have never been the cheapest but the basic cover of LV v for example the required add on's to match the same level of cover from Aviva, Aviva worked out more (before I could even ring up because apparently no one lowers cars...).

Plus comparison sites are a poor tool to use in my view.

Another suggestion when you get your renewal premium - get a quote from your company's website, save it for evidence & if cheaper than your renewal figure the insurer will probably match it to retain the business - over the years I have done this with both Direct Line & Privilege (same owner I understand) saving £50 to £70 each time. Good advice from other posts - compare cover offered carefully & it saves to shop around every year!

We too stuck with Esure when I got the XC60, price was fair.....but I don't agree that comparison sites are poor tools: *every* time I have tried the companies who proudly claim to NOT be on such sites, their premium has *always* been way over the comparison price!
YMMV, of course....as someone said, it is a proper postcode lottery!

I have noticed the Comparison web sites point you in a certain direction and not always to the best prices.
I read somewhere that they get paid for doing so.
Yes, use them, but take them with an "pinch of salt", as going direct, can save you some money.
When you get your renewal notice and you are not pleased, phone them and tell them you are thinking of moving, normally works cheaper in the end.

I have my car and Travel/Health insurance with LV and have been very happy with them over the last few years.

Im with Aviva and never had a problem.
And they are the cheapest.
Was with QBE before that also no problem.
One thing to watch out for is driving someone else's car as there is a good chance you will have to contact your own insurance first.

Every year they try to stiff me 20%, I do an online quote and by some "magic" they manage to meet the online quote. "Amazing"
