I wouldn't have thought so. Most detailers offer a new car detail and will often detail/protect the car before the owner takes delivery. My own car is booked in with one, albeit straight after I have collected the car myself.

As with most things the key is in the prep... decontaminiation, clean, polish, clean then protect. Most ceramic coats take a few hours to cure too, so ideally you need to leave the car indoors in a dust free enviroment.

I used the G4 Technic treatment on my V90 RD and it held up quite well for the 3 years I had the car. The key is the prep work prior to application. I used IMS to degrease the plastics and get any polish residue off. worth the effort at the end of the day.

Mine had a graze with a bush. After a bit of web activity I found you can treat it exactly like paintwork. So 10 minutes of polishing removed the marks. Then a coating of Carnauba Wax to finish
